Umbrellas, London cityscape painting
Umbrellas, London cityscape painting
Featured in MetaSpace Gallery Contrast! exhibition: August/September 2024
A rainy day in London, sipping coffee to fortify oneself for an art binge in the gallery. Observing colours, shapes and the ever-changing reflections in the watery paving of Trafalgar Square.
Medium: Original acrylic painting on cotton canvas (varnished)
Dimensions: 14 by 10 inches (approx.)
Completed: 2020
Artist notes: I had wanted to put umbrella scenes for ages. Luckily, one day I was visiting the National Gallery and treating myself to lunch (had something special to celebrate). I had a really good spot in the National Gallery restaurant with a view over Trafalgar Square and was about to snap some photos to use as references for paintings. This is the first but I suspect there will be a few more.
