Artist notes: I saw this robin out of the corner of my eye on a walk around Whiteknights Lake in May 2020. Lucky to have lived close enough to enjoy walks there during lockdown. I loved how the flash of colour caught my eye. I wanted the style of the painting to capture the sense of movement as the robin dashed around. I originally titled this “Flash of robin” but then decided “Flash dash” better captured the playfulness of the encounter.
